There can be various Audiences for films of this genre as there are many sub-genres that fit into this genre, for example: horror apocalyptic,
Sci-fi apocalyptic,
Comedy apocalyptic.
this means that there is many different target audiences that fit into the whole genre that is "post apocalyptic".
One thing that is certain is that youths probably below that age of 14 are not the main aim that films aim these genre's at. this is a the genre is quite dull in its conventions, and will usually contain something that isn't suitable for the viewing of children, for example, swearing, gore, frightening sights, that film companies don't want children, to see.
Another probability is that people of the older generation will not be attracted to films of this genre. This is as they are more usually relaxed and therefore this is something that people from ages 60-80 wouldn't enjoy. The film genre is fairly new and so, the older generation are appealed to films of different genres and would probably be reluctant to go and see a film of this "post apocalyptic" genre.
This leaves me to say that the main target audiences of these types of genre is usually older teens and adults (18-45). This is due to the content being more appealing to this demographic due to the dark themes and violence ,which occurs in almost post apocalyptic films, they are also aimed more at males due to their nature, and so is more appealing to them.
And from this research I conclude that my main target audience I am going to aim my film opening at is male Teens and adults (18-45).
