Tile sequences usually open with the production companies so that the audience knows who is behind the creation of the film. this is a sales method so that the first thing they see is the production companies, if they like the film then they should watch other productions from the same companies. twelve monkeys is no acception, as the first thing we see is 'Universal pictures and Atlas Classico presents' this is the distribution company (universal) and the main production company (Atlas Classico). It is then followed by the main production company to rehiterate that Atlas Entertainment was the main creator of the film.
After the Production/Distribution companies are established it then gives the audience a short outline of the story behind the plot, so that the audince knows what the film will be about. the font is sci-fi ish and gives the audience an idea that the feature could be set in the futre, or in some different time period.
Then the main titles apper. this contains an illusion-type background which is shaped with monkeys to represent the monkeys in the title of the film. it also gives a wierd feel to the film and could represent how the film is written .
Then the main people involved in the film appear in a dazzling font, For example:
Terry Gilliam(director)
And then actors (in order of importance):
Bruce Willis
Madeline Stowe
Brad Pitt
They would have shown these names as they are popular actors and also because they are the main protagonist in the film.
